The Coral, known for hit single Dreamin’ Of You, has announced two new albums which are set to release in September.
The band are kicking off their double release with new track Wild Bird, their first new music release since 2021’s double album, Coral Island.
Two albums are set to drop on Friday, September 8, with both Sea of Mirrors and Holy Joe’s Coral Island Medicine Show announced by the band.
Frontman James Skelly said of their latest single: “Like most of The Coral’s best-known songs you could pick out, it was written in about five minutes.
“Once the album concept was clear, this was us imagining the theme tune for an Italian western directed by (Federico) Fellini with a Richard Yates-written script.
“It’s us asking ourselves ‘what would have happened if Lee Hazelwood had produced a Gene Pitney song written by Townes Van Zandt?'”
While Sea of Mirrors is set for a physical and digital release, second album Holy Joe’s Coral Island Medicine Show will receive a physical-only print.
Both The Coral’s latest albums were the last albums to be recorded at the legendary Parr Street Studios in Liverpool.
Major artists such as Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Pulp, and Buzzcocks all took to the studio at various points in their careers.
Recording of Sea of Mirrors and Holy Joe’s Coral Island Medicine Show was completed at Kempston Street Studios.
